Kanpo or often called Kampo is a Japanese version of Chinese medicine. Kanpo uses herbs to treat people for all sorts of illnesses and is very much integrated into the Japanese medical system. Kanpo practitioners may also use techniques such as acupuncture, moxibustion, and manipulative therapy.
Kanpo medicine follows a lot of the same rules you will see in traditional Chinese medicine can includes the negative and positive and five elements of the body. In the 1970s the Japanese government made Kanpo medicine part of their medical system. Since the 1990s Japan has required certification of all Kanpo medicines.
Kanpo medicine can be used to treat a large number of conditions and these include eczema, atopic dermatitis, gynaecological problems, allergies, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic hepatitis, diabetic retinopathy, bronchial asthma, endometrial cancer, collagen disease, bedwetting, colds, nausea, and high cholesterol levels.
