Condition Details for Bursitis
Description

Every joint has a small sack filled with fluid inside it which is design to lubricate and cushion the joint. Bursitis is an inflammation of this sack and often occurs in the bigger joints such as the knee. The main cause is often repetitive movement however you are best to see a doctor for diagnosis as a number of things can cause the same symptoms.

The main medical treatments are steroids to reduce the inflammation, antibiotics if it becomes infected and pain killers to ease the pain. However alternative therapies can help to both reduce the inflammation and to control the pain. Some things that could help are:

  • Nutritional Supplements – you can include anti-inflammatory oils in your diet which can be found in cold-water fish, nuts and seeds.

  • Homeopathy – there are a number of homeopathic remedies that can help reduce the pain and also the inflammation.
  • Acupuncture – it has been shown that acupunctures is great to relieve pain but can also help with reducing the swelling and inflammation.
