Anxiety describes a time when someone feels worried. This is something that all people will feel at some time or another however it becomes a problem if people feel it often and there is no obvious cause. There can be no feel cause for the anxiety and it can have a serious effect on the lives of the sufferers. The symptoms that many people will experience are:

 

  • Muscle tension, trembling
  • Fast heartbeat (tachycardia)
  • Fast or troubled breathing (dyspnoea)
  • Dizziness or impaired concentration
  • Palpitations
  • Headache
  • Sweating
  • Fatigue
  • Irritability
  • Sleep disturbances

 

 

 

There are some drugs that doctors can prescribe however this may not be the best option and many people will want to look at different options. There are a large number of alternative therapies that can help with anxiety so there are a lot of things you can try.

 

The first thing is to try and incorporate relaxation techniques, this can be through self-hypnosis, meditation and progressive relaxation. You could also try a number of herbal remedies or homeopathy as well as making some dietary changes. For example caffeine can increase anxiety so a reduction in intake could be beneficial. You could also try acupuncture, massage or visiting a hypnotherapist. The important thing to remember is there is a lot of help out there and if one thing does not work do not despair.
