Meditation is something that many people use to help them deal with the stress in their lives however a recent study shows that there could be other benefits related to meditation. A group or researchers from the University of Wisconsin looked at how meditation can improve concentration and make it easier to focus the mind.
The study took a group of people and got them to practise Vipassana meditation for three months and their concentration levels were tested before and after the 3 month period. The concentration test involved them identifying a tone played in either ear with distracting noises going on at the same time. It was found that after 3 months of meditation the participant found it easier to ignore the distracting noises and recognise the tone. The researchers believe that this could be something that is worth investigating as a treatment for attention deficit disorder and other similar conditions.
